Introduction
Welcome to Playroom ("we," "us," or "our"). Playroom is operated by Golden Bytes LLC.
Playroom is a mobile application designed to help parents and caregivers discover engaging activities for toddlers and preschoolers (ages 1-5). Our app processes content from social media platforms to extract and organize activity ideas, making it easier for families to find fun, educational experiences for young children.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.
Information We Collect
Personal Information
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you:
Create an account: Email address (optional - you can use the app anonymously)
Sign in: Firebase authentication identifier (UID)
Subscription Information
If you subscribe to our premium features:
Subscription status (free, trial, active, expired, or cancelled)
RevenueCat customer identifier
Purchase history is managed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store
Note: We do not directly collect or store your payment card details. All payment processing is handled securely by Apple or Google.
Content Data
When you use our app, we collect:
URLs you submit: Social media links (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest) that you request to be analyzed
Photos you upload: Photos you pick to turn into an activity, and any text you type with them. The first photo is kept as the activity's picture.
Activity data: AI-generated activity information including titles, descriptions, instructions, supplies, and tags
Your preferences: Notes, ratings, and modifications you make to saved activities
Playlists and schedules: Activity collections and planned activities you create
About You and Your Family
When you set up the app, we ask a few questions about your family and how you plan to use Playroom. We store your answers with your account, and you can see them in the app under About you. They are:
The age ranges of your children (for example, 0–1 or 8+)
What your children love doing
Your goals for using the app
How you heard about Playroom
We do not send these answers to our analytics or AI providers.
Device Information
We collect device information when you submit feedback, and with the product analytics described below:
Device manufacturer, model and type
Operating system name and version
App name, version and build number
Screen size, language setting and time zone
Whether the device is on Wi-Fi or a mobile network, and the mobile carrier name on Android
Automatically Collected Information
Crash reports: In release builds of the app, we collect crash logs to identify and fix bugs. This includes device information and stack traces but no personal content.
Product analytics: We record the actions you take in the app, linked to your user ID. These are actions, not your content: for example, that onboarding was started or completed, which onboarding screen was viewed and how long onboarding took, that a paywall was shown, dismissed or led to a subscription, that a free trial started, that the guided tour was started, skipped or completed, and that the app asked you for a store review. Our servers record that an import finished (with the platform, the kind of post, and whether it succeeded or the error code if it did not), and that an activity was saved, a planner item was added or a playlist was created. We also record when an account reaches 3 imports within 7 days of signing up. Until the app has an account for you, signed in or anonymous, these events are linked to a random identifier the app creates for this installation; after that, they are linked to your user ID.
Subscription events: RevenueCat records subscription events such as a trial starting or converting, a renewal, a cancellation or a billing issue, with the product, price, currency, store and transaction identifiers, and the details RevenueCat holds for your account, which can include your email address. These can happen when the app is not open.
What analytics does not include: links you import, titles, descriptions, playlist names, supplies, photos, free-text answers, or details about your children. We do not use advertising identifiers or record your screen or sessions.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide our services: Process social media content and generate activity cards
Maintain your library: Store and sync your saved activities, playlists, and scheduled items
Manage subscriptions: Verify your subscription status and entitlements
Improve the app: Analyze crash reports to fix bugs and enhance stability, and use product analytics to understand how the app is used, including which features are used and how onboarding and subscriptions perform
Respond to requests: Address your feedback and support inquiries
Gather feedback: Reach out to you for feedback about your experience, such as after a subscription change
Ensure security: Authenticate your identity and protect against fraud
We do not use your information to:
Sell your personal data to third parties
Display targeted advertisements
Create advertising profiles
Track your behavior across other apps or websites
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate our app:

PostHog
Product Analytics
User ID, a random app installation ID, in-app action events, subscription events (which can include your email address), device and app information
How These Services Handle Your Data
Firebase: Provides secure authentication and collects crash reports to help us fix bugs. Crash reporting is turned off in debug builds.
RevenueCat: Manages your subscription status securely. We share your user ID and email address to verify entitlements and enable us to follow up with you for feedback about your experience. RevenueCat also sends subscription events to PostHog on our behalf, linked to your user ID, so that we can see how subscriptions perform. These events can include the details RevenueCat holds for your account, such as your email address.
Google (Gemini API): Turns imported posts and photos into activity cards. For a post, we send its text (such as the title, caption and creator name) and its images or frames from its video. For a web page, we send the page's text. For a photo import, we send the photos you pick and any text you type. We do not send your user ID, your email address or the link. Under Google's terms for the paid Gemini API, Google does not use this content to improve its products, and keeps it only for a limited time to detect abuse and meet legal requirements.
Cloudflare: All traffic between the app and our servers passes through Cloudflare, which sees your IP address. Cloudflare R2 stores activity images and thumbnails, including the first photo of each photo import. These images are served from public web addresses, so anyone who has an image's address can view it.
Amazon Web Services: Hosts our servers and our database, which holds your account, your library and the other data described in this policy.
PostHog: Stores our product analytics. It receives events from the app, from our servers and from RevenueCat, linked to your user ID, along with the device and app information listed above. It does not receive your content. We use it only to understand and improve our own app, not for advertising, and we have turned off session replay, surveys and automatic capture of taps, screens, app opens and notifications. We do not use your IP address to work out your location.
Data Storage and Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:
Where Your Data Is Stored
Backend database: PostgreSQL database hosted on Amazon Web Services
Local device storage: Your settings and cached data are kept in the app's private storage on your device. On iPhone, your sign-in session is kept in the Keychain.
Image storage: Activity images and thumbnails are stored on Cloudflare R2 and served from public web addresses
Security Measures
In transit: All data transmitted using HTTPS/TLS encryption
At rest: Database access restricted
Authentication: Secure token-based authentication via Firebase
Data Retention
Account data: Retained until you request account deletion
Activity content: Cached for performance; deduplicated across users
Temporary files: Automatically deleted immediately after processing
Crash reports: Retained according to Firebase Crashlytics policies
Product analytics: Retained in PostHog; you can ask us to delete it at any time
You can delete your account in the app, or ask us to delete your data by contacting us at the email address below.

Children's Privacy
Important: Playroom is designed for use by adult parents and caregivers. Our app is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
While our app helps adults find activities for children, the app itself should only be operated by adults. We collect a little information about your children, and only from you: when you set up the app, we ask the age ranges of your children and what they love doing (see About You and Your Family). We do not ask for your children's names or dates of birth. Photos you import may show your children; they are handled as described under Content Data.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at team@goldenbytes.llc. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Limited Analytics
Playroom uses minimal analytics to improve the app experience:
Product analytics: We use PostHog to understand how the app is used, and RevenueCat sends it subscription events. This covers the actions you take in the app, not your content. See Information We Collect for the details.
No advertising identifiers: We do not collect IDFA, GAID, or similar advertising IDs
No session recording: We do not record your screen or your sessions in the app
No cross-app tracking: We do not track your activity across other apps or websites
No behavioral profiling: We do not build advertising profiles or sell your data
The only other tracking-related data we collect is crash reports in release builds, which help us identify and fix bugs.
Opting Out of Product Analytics
To opt out of product analytics, turn off Share usage data in the app under More. Turning off Share usage data stops app usage analytics. Purchase and subscription events, such as a trial starting or a renewal, are still recorded so we can manage billing, refunds and fraud. The switch covers the usage events from the app and from our servers, though events recorded just before you turn it off may still be sent. Your choice is saved to your account, including an anonymous one, and takes effect on your other devices the next time the app starts on them; while the app has no account for you, it is saved on this device. Opting out does not affect how the app works. To ask us to delete the analytics data linked to your account, contact us using the details in Contact Us. Deleting your account also removes the analytics data linked to it.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our servers and third-party service providers are located.
If you are located in the EEA or UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers, including:
Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission
Service provider compliance with applicable data protection requirements
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
Providing notice through the app for material changes
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
